Data Comparison
Case Study 1 - The Growth in Galaxy Discovery
In this dataset that was created through the extraction of data from our XML specification on XPATH, we queried our document to give us the exact number of known Galaxies, from our Local Group, that were discovered up until 1950 and after that same year. With the results obtained we were able to draw a comparison that further proves how impactful the "boom" in space exploration really was and how it affected the study of Galaxies.
Case Study 2 - The Closest and the Farthest
In this dataset that was created through the extraction of data from our XML specification on XPATH, we queried our document to give us the exact distance, in millions of light-years, of the Galaxy (of the Local Group) that is the farthest away from Earth and also of the one that is the closest. The results are clear-cut and display the distance value and the corresponding Galaxy name for both maximum distance and minimum distance.
Case Study 3 - Galaxy Type Distribution
In this dataset that was created through the extraction of data from our XML specification on XPATH, we queried our document to give us the exact number of each type of Galaxy from our Local Group. With the data obtained we are able to create a pie chart that efficiently displays the variety of Galaxies, both through numerical and percentual statistics.
